FASTCO Runway promotes Filipino talents and designs
The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne supported the Filipino-Australian Student Council of Victoria with their recent event titled “FASTCO Runway” held on 30 June 2022 at the Couch International Student Center in Melbourne. The Consulate also invited members of the Consular Corps and Global Victoria to the event.
This project was headed by Asia’s Next Top Model Season 2 1st runner up, Jodilly Pendre, Vice President of Internal Affairs of FASTCO. It was envisioned as a celebration of artistic expression. Filipino and Australian artists from different industries like fashion, makeup, photography, and modelling showcased their craft, converging to an event of art, glamour, and style. Three local designers took part, including the Filipiniana Australiana which showed a number of casual and formal Filipiniana dresses as well as barong Tagalog.
According to FASTCO, this event had been decided based on their Needs Assessment Survey (2021) conducted in 2021 during the pandemic lockdown. According to the results of the survey, students were looking for social activities that allow them to casually interact with their peers and forge new and meaningful relationships. Furthermore, students were also looking for opportunities to gain industry connections. END
