Article 10 of the Family Code of the Philippines states that “Marriages between Filipino citizens abroad may be solemnized by a consul-general, consul or vice-consul of the Republic of the Philippines. The issuance of the marriage license and the duties of the local civil registrar and of the solemnising officer with regard to the celebration of marriage shall be performed by said consular official.”
 
Applications may be submitted to, and the marriage ceremony should be conducted at the Philippine Embassy in Canberra, Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, or at the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, depending on where the parties reside.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Duly accomplished Application for Marriage License and Marriage Solemnization by both bride and groom.

  2. Original Certificate of Live Birth of the contracting parties issued by PSA / NSO, apostilled by the Department of Foreign Affairs, plus three (3) photocopies.
  3. Four (4) certified true copies of the data page of valid passports of the contracting parties.

The ceremony of marriage solemnization will be on a date after the mandatory 10-day publication of the marriage following the submission of the complete documentary requirements at the Embassy/Consulate.

The contracting parties must provide two witnesses, both age 21 years or older, who will attend the marriage ceremony and sign the Contract of Marriage.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

For a contracting party who had a previous marriage annulled by the Philippine courts or which has undergone Philippine judicial recognition of foreign divorce: Original of the amended PSA Marriage Certificate with annotation of annulment, apostilled by the Department of Foreign Affairs, plus three (3) photocopies.

For a contracting party who is a widow or widower: PSA – issued Death Certificate of deceased spouse, apostilled by DFA, plus three (3) photocopies.

For a contracting party age 18-21 years old, an Affidavit of Parental Consent executed by the parents of the contracting party, notarized by a Philippine public notary and bear an Apostille by the Department of Foreign Affairs, plus three (3) photocopies.

HOW TO FILE

IN PERSON. (Both bride and groom must personally appear at the Consuate General to accomplish and sign the Application for Marriage License and to submit the documentary requirements.)


FEES

A$45 payment for the notarial fee for the application of marriage license each for groom and bride

A$108 payment for the solemnization of marriage to be paid on the date of marriage.

PLEASE NOTE:
After 6 months from the date of marriage, you may apply for the official PSA-authenticated copy of the Marriage Certificate at www.psaserbilis.com.ph or at any PSA-accredited branch / office in the Philippines.
