How to Get an NBI Clearance : Renewal and New

The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne assists in securing an NBI Clearance but does not process or issue the Clearance itself. Please read the procedures first before booking an appointment.

  1. Renewal of NBI clearance issued from 2014 onwards

    For applicants who have been previously issued NBI clearances from 2014 to present, they can now renew their NBI clearance without the need of an accomplished new NBI fingerprint card form No. 5 provided that there are no changes made on personal data (name, place or date of birth). Any change in personal data is considered a new application.

    Requirements for renewal of NBI Clearance:

    1. Old NBI Clearance issued from 2014 onwards
    2. Authorization letter to a representative in the Philippines to process the NBI clearance in Manila (IF SENDING DIRECTLY TO A REPRESENTATIVE)
    3. Photocopy of Philippine passport, and
    4. 2x2 photo full front view/white background
    5. Money Order in the sum of two hundred pesos (Php200.00) Philippine currency, or bank draft which is negotiable in the Philippines payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines

     
  2. New or first-time NBI clearance

    If you have never been issued an NBI Clearance in the past, following are the steps to apply for a clearance from the NBI in the Philippines:

    1. Book an appointment (there are no walk-in services)
    2. Bring the following:
       
      • Passport and photocopy of passport data page;
      • Two (2) 2x2 photo-full front view/white background;
      • Processing fee of AU$45 payable in cash.
      • Return Registered envelope (A4 size) with person to person (blue sticker) or Express Post envelope (A4 size) with signature on delivery sticker

    3. Be at the Consulate at the appointed time
    4. At the Consulate, please accomplish the NBI Clearance Form 5 to be provided by the Consulate and submit a copy of passport or valid photo ID.
    5. Pay the processing fee of AU$45.00 at the cashier. At present, the Consulate only accepts cash. EFTPOS and credit cards are not accepted.
    6. A consular assistant will assist you in fingerprinting the NBI Clearance application form
    7. The signed/sealed form will be mailed to your address in Australia. You will be responsible for sending this form to NBI-Manila.

Cannot travel to Melbourne?

Those in Victoria but far from Melbourne may apply by mail. Those from other states, please check our ABOUT page for the contact of the other missions/consulates.

  1. Request an NBI Form 5 from the Consulate.
  2. Go to the nearest Police station to have your fingerprints taken.
  3. Send the accomplished NBI Form 5 with fingerprints to the Consulate with a copy of your passport, processing fee of A$45 in postal money order payable to the PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL-MELBOURNE.
  4. The Consular officer will sign the NBI form and will be mailed back to the applicant.
  5. Send the NBI fingerprinted form to NBI Manila.

How to send the accomplished NBI Form 5 with fingerprints to the NBI?

After receipt of the accomplished NBI Form 5 from the Consulate, send it and other requirements to:

NBI requirements:

  1. Duly accomplished NBI Form 5 with fingerprints, signed and stamped by the Philippine Consulate General;
  2. Letter authorizing a representative with his/her name, telephone number, address and email address) in the Philippines to process the NBI clearance in Manila;
  3. Photocopy of passport;
  4. Money Order in the sum of Two Hundred Pesos Philippine currency (PHP 200), or bank draft which is negotiable in the Philippines and payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines
  5. After receiving and reviewing the application, NBI Manila will issue corresponding clearance certificate, if there are no “hits”

You may send your consularized/accomplished application form and other requirements to your relative/representative in the Philippines together with a letter (click here for sample of authorization letter) authorizing him/her to transact business on your behalf. Your relative/representative may visit the office of the Electronic Data Processing Division (EDPD) on NBI Taft Avenue, Manila, for further assistance.

Upon receipt of your clearance certificate, please examine it for the presence of the embossed NBI DRY SEAL at its lower left portion; the clearance is invalid without it. You must also affix your signature and thumbprint on the space provided for on the clearance certificate itself before submitting it to your end-user.
