Melbourne PCG Conducts Teambuilding 2021

As the year 2021 comes to an end and to welcome 2022, with much enthusiasm in improving teamwork and camaraderie among its officers and staff, the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne conducted a teambuilding activity on 11-12 December 2021 in Mornington Peninsula, some 72 kms from Melbourne CBD.

Consul General Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo led the officers and staff of the Consulate together with their families in the various activities of the said teambuilding activity (TBA) cum family day.

The TBA Workshop for the officers and staff was facilitated by the Melba Marginson & Associates composed of Mses. Melba Marginson, May Red Zafra and Lara Cristina Cruz. Ms. Marginson is also the Chairperson of The Silent Witness Network, a family violence-focused organization, advocating primarily on its prevention within culturally-diverse communities. The topics discussed were: how much do you know of Australia, family life and work-life balance, power of purpose in leadership, and concerns/issues at workplace that are relevant to DFA competencies.

The discussions focused on the practice of setting practical work hours and personal boundaries, empathy, self-awareness and mindfulness, nurturing relationships with positive outlook and social support that could help build resilience, cope with stress and improve one’s health.

The most valuable discussions were on the principles of good teamwork which ensures a productive balance of expertise and styles, recognition of individual skills, attitudes, values, experiences and personality traits. Topics on information and feedback illustrated how these impact work processes within the group as well as achieving the tasks it needs to complete.

The team had a “Hat and Cape” dinner party with their families with various games while having barbecue and a nearby bonfire.

The following day, the team had brunch along Sorrento Beach hosted by Ms. Jossa Dalit, followed by a tour of outdoor sculptures and wine tasting at Leo Estate./p>

To cap the TBA, the team was invited to a merienda cena at the residence of an active leader in the Filipino community, Ms. Lulu Lorenzo, assisted by her friends where the team and their children participated actively in rendering Christmas songs and dances.
