Melbourne PCG goes on a cultural immersion at NGV International
The Philippine Consulate in Melbourne had its Cultural Immersion and Yearend Fellowship at the National Gallery of Victoria International on 19 December 2020. It was the first outdoor activity of the Consulate and was attended by its personnel with their families.
The activity provided a meaningful opportunity for everyone to get acquainted with Australia’s oldest, largest and most visited art museum.
Melbourne has one of the highest densities of commercial art galleries globally. Complemented by a thriving theater, music and street art scene, it is no surprise it is known as the art capital of Australia.
The Cultural Immersion and Yearend Fellowship coincided with the reopening of of the NGV to the public after it closed its doors in March 2020 following two lockdowns due to covid pandemic.
Established on 24 May 1861, the NGV houses an encyclopedic art collection across two sites: the NGV International and the Ian Potter Center: NGV Australia at the Federation Square.
After a tour of the NGV’s collections, the Melbourne PCG team had a simple lunch of fish and chips at the award-winning NGV sculpture garden. END
